Conserving Your Dublin Period House 2023

27 February 2023

The Irish Georgian Society and Dublin City Council have announced a programme of talks promoting the significance of Dublin’s period houses and giving practical advice on their conservation and repair.  The talks, which take place at 1pm each Tuesday from the 7th of March to the 30th of May, will be of benefit to owners of all period houses, whether that is a Georgian townhouse, a Victorian villa or an Edwardian artisan’s house.  The talks will take place in the City Assembly House and will also be broadcast live online.

The topics covered include Roofs, Chimneys and Parapets by Lisa Edden of Cora Consulting Engineers; Conservation of Brick by Susan Roundtree; Lime and Historic Pointing Techniques by Grainne Shaffrey of Shaffrey Architects; Historic Windows and Energy Performance by Nessa Roche and Carl Raftery of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage; and Disaster Planning and Insurance Considerations by Margaret Quinlan of Margaret Quinlan Architects.

The talks are approved for CPD by Construction Federation of Ireland, Engineers Ireland, Heritage Contractors, the Irish Planning Institute and the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.

Each talk costs €15, the whole programme costs €140, and bookings can be made through the Irish Georgian Society’s website.
