Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2027
The Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2027 is now open for applications. The Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS), funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage through the National Built Heritage Service (NBHS), is designed to support custodians and owners of protected structures maintain those protected structures now and for future generations. It is also designed to help develop and preserve traditional building skills.
The BHIS is administered by the local authorities and, via grants ranging from €2,000 to €50,000, will support the conservation-led maintenance and repair of historic buildings protected under the Planning and Development Acts and vernacular buildings which may lack statutory protection but still remain an essential part of Ireland’s rich built heritage.
Those intending to apply for grant funding under the BHIS should contact their local Architectural Conservation Officer for advice and assistance or their local Heritage Officer if their local authority does not employ and Architectural Conservation Officer.
