Once a fine large demesne on a long-inhabited fertile site. Retains late 18th century layout, access routes, field boundaries, woodlands and buildings. The house appears from map evidence to have been fronted by ornamental gardens pre 1836, later more heavily planted. Internal main drive is now a metalled public road and there are many comparatively recent houses built or being built along the road and within the demesne. Largely farm land.
