Lands long-occupied. Plunkett Castle and Titchbourne family from the mid-17th century. Present house likely to have been built by Henry Titchbourne, later Baron Ferrard of Beaulieu c.1710-1720, or was remodelled at this time. Property has passed down through the family’s female line. A very important and unusual demesne in that it retains many 18th century features, including the straight approach drive to the house over water and the proximity of the brick walled garden to the house. The later additions of the church in the early 19th century and the outbuildings in the late 19th century are all in harmony. The house is set on high ground, descending steeply to the south and across an area in the manner of a later landscape park, with vistas to the River Boyne. There are also vistas to south from the north end of the walled garden, which is cultivated and under improvement. Open 1st May until mid September. http://www.beaulieu.ie/
