Appraisal

The celebrated British sculptor, Henry Moore, created this memorial in bronze to the memory of W.B. Yeats, the Nobel Prize-winning poet. It is a rare example of an abstract depiction of a person and the only one of its kind in the large group of memorials in St. Stephen's Green. A notable piece of bronze casting, it stands within an area of hard landscaping on the site of former glasshouses, the various stepped areas providing ample seating for viewing.
