Single-arch bridge, built c. 1860, carrying pathway over Naniken River. Segmental arch with squared stone voussoirs. Concrete surface to carriageway.
Benjamin Lee Guinness and his brother Arthur bought Thornhill in 1835, renaming it St. Ann's after the nearby holy well. Over the following decades, Benjamin expanded and developed the estate, undertaking considerable landscaping work, including the construction of several classical or rustic follies. A functional structure, this bridge cannot be considered a folly, but it forms part of a pathway intended to lead visitors along the course of the river where several follies were constructed to provide diversion and entertainment. Part of a pair of modestly-scaled bridges of a similar design, it forms an integral part of the historic garden plan.
