Four-arch rubble limestone humpback bridge, built c.1790, carrying road over Dromore River. Round arches having rubble stone voussoirs and soffits. Rubble stone V-shaped cutwaters with concrete copings to both elevations. Rubble stone walls and parapet walls having vertical rubble stone copings.
This forms part of a notable group of three bridges, with a most unusual arrangement of a road bridge in such close proximity to a railway bridge. The low elevation with small arches of rubble stone of the road bridge makes an interesting contrast with the polychromy and cut stone of the railway bridge. Though more modest in appearance, it is a testament to skilled design and execution, and continues to form an important part of the infrastructure of County Monaghan. The angle at which the road approaches the river crossing is indicative of an early date for this site, having been built before the advent of skew arches shown clearly in the adjoining, later, railway bridge.
