Freestanding four-bay Roman Catholic church, dated 1843, but possibly incorporating earlier, smaller building, having three-stage entrance tower to south and lower two-bay sacristy to north elevation. Pitched artificial slate roof with replacement rainwater goods, with cut limestone pinnacles and cross finial to tower. Roughcast rendered walls with rendered quoins and plinth, painted brick quoins to sacristy. Exposed rubble stone walls to tower with cut limestone string courses, circular plaque and inscribed date plaque. Pointed-arch window openings with painted stone surrounds, sills and hood-mouldings, and stained glass. Lancet openings to tower having cut limestone surrounds, timber louvers to top stage and timber nine-over-nine pane sliding sash window with Y-trscery to fanlight to south elevation of middle stage. Pointed-arch door opening to tower with cut limestone surround, hood-moulding, and timber battened door. Square-headed door opening to sacristy with painted brick surround. Interior entered through tower, and has smooth rendered walls, inlaid parquet ceiling, two rows of pews, and marble altar and timber lectern on raised platform. Carved timber confessional to rear. Pointed-arch door to rear with render surround, double-leaf half-glazed timber panelled door and timber panelled tympanum. Square-headed door opening to vestry with timber panelled door. Square-plan rendered piers and boundary wall to front of site.
Saint Mary's Church has a striking visual effect on the public road, the stone tower contrasting with the rendered nave walls. The hood-mouldings to the windows of the nave and to the lower stages of the tower add architectural detailing. The various motifs to the tower are also to be found on Church of Ireland churches. The timber sash window to the tower is likely to represent the original windows of the rest of the building. The interior of the building is a simple unadorned box.
