Entrance gateway to Ferney House, erected c.1890, comprising double-leaf cast-iron vehicular gate with antefixa finials, flanked by square-plan cast-iron piers with plinths, panelled sides and moulded caps. Matching curved railings on painted masonry plinth wall, terminating in painted masonry square-plan piers with plinths, recessed panels and moulded caps.
This gateway to Ferney House is a notable feature, although it is located on a secluded roadway. The design of the cast-iron piers is mimicked interestingly by the terminating masonry piers, and the antefixa motif to the gates and railings add decorative interest, serving to convey to the passer-by the grandeur of the house contained within the grounds.
