Double-arch bridge, built c.1810, carrying road over Finn River. Round arches with stepped dressed stone voussoirs and gunnelled soffits. Dressed limestone V-shaped cutwaters having rounded capping to each elevation of pier. Coursed squared rusticated stone to spandrels, roughly coursed squared stone to parapets with dressed limestone copings. Dressed stone string course to each elevation.
This well-designed and finely-executed bridge is a notable example of the high quality of engineering and craftsmanship in stonework which was prevalent in the early nineteenth century. Dressed stone detailing to the stepped voussoirs, copings and string courses, enliven the coursed stone spandrels and parapets. It is of additional social and historical importance, providing a crossing point between the island's two jurisdictions.
