Appraisal

The combination of house and outbuildings at this site form a pleasing collection in the landscape, unified and enclosed by the yard walls with their unusual truncated openings. The appealing middle-size house is of balanced proportions and retains most of its original form and fabric, including varied timber sliding sash windows. The eaves show some indication of having been altered, and were probably overhung throughout originally, nonetheless those that remain show some craft-working skill in the execution of the timber eaves supports. The fine doorcase is also notable, with its elegant columns and fanlight, subtly enlivening the regular form of this well-proportioned house.
