Triple-arch road bridge, built c.1790, carrying road over Blackwater River. Round arches with cut limestone voussoirs, gunnelled soffits, V-shaped coursed rubble limestone cut-waters with rubble stone capping to piers. Recent cement reinforcements to arches and abutments. Coursed rubble limestone to spandrel and parapet walls.
The parapet walls of this bridge are visible from the winding approach road to the north, bringing an element of architectural interest to this rural landscape. Located near a former flax and corn mill, this bridge would have been important in enabling transport to and from the industrial site. That it is called after the mill suggests that it may have been purpose-built to serve it. Well-executed arches are testament to the skill of stonemasons involved in the construction of this bridge, and neatly cut voussoirs provide textual contrast to the rubble stone of the walls.
