Double-arch road bridge, built c.1890, carrying road over River Blackwater and marking border between counties Monaghan and Tyrone. Segmental arches with tooled limestone voussoirs, with pointed U-plan cut-waters to both north-west and south-east elevations. Coursed squared rubble limestone to spandrel walls, abutments, parapets and buttresses. Render string courses and coping to parapets. Gunnelled soffits and cement bases to central pier and abutments. Curved abutments. Buttresses flanking arches to each elevation.
This well-executed bridge, with its elegant arches and cutwaters, exhibits some good-quality stonework and provides a point of aesthetic interest on the landscape. It provides a crossing point between the island's two jurisdictions and was apparently damaged during the Troubles.
