Description

Single-arch humpback bridge, built c.1810, carrying road over Mountain Water. Three-centred-arch with rusticated stone voussoirs and gunnelled soffit. Coursed roughly squared rubble limestone parapet and abutment walls. Render coping to parapet walls. Shallow masonry buttresses flanking arch to each elevation.

Appraisal

The coursed rubble walls of this bridge contrast pleasingly with the gunnelled soffit of the arch, while the fine voussoirs and supporting buttresses add architectural interest to this otherwise modest bridge, combining to create an attractive and picturesque feature in the landscape.
