Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1875, having projecting gable-fronted porch to front elevation. Pitched slate roof having red brick chimneystack, decorative timber fascia and bargeboards and remains of finials, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with painted smooth rendered quoins set on painted smooth rendered plinth. Porch has painted smooth rendered and brick walls set on painted smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings having painted brick block-and-start surrounds and painted stone sills with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows with ogee horns. One-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows with ogee horns to side walls of front entrance porch. Square-headed door opening having painted brick block-and-start surround and replacement timber panelled door with brass ironmongery and overlight. House bounded by roughcast rendered wall with painted stone coping to south-east and decorative cast-iron railings set on stone plinth.
This attractive house is in the style of the Bath estate houses elsewhere in Carrickmacross. Its detailing, especially the use of scalloped fascia and bargeboards is typical of the estate houses. The projecting porch, whose front face is flush with the boundary railings, gives the building a strong presence in the streetscape. The retention of timber sash windows is unusual in the town, and the boundary wall and decorative cast-iron railings complete the setting of this well designed building.
