Description
Approximately rectangular walled allotment garden, built c.1870, with boundary wall comprising squared limestone random coursed blocks, with rock-faced coping, having wrought-iron pedestrian access gate to south-east. Garden plots to interior.
Appraisal
This walled garden allotment serves as a reminder of the range of town improvements undertaken by the Bath Estate in the late nineteenth century in Carrickmacross. The gardens would have provided a wide variety of produce for residents of Weymouth Cottages that front onto the gardens. Today it is an interesting, though private, green space within the town.
