Stone cross embedded in south face of stone wall, at south-west side of central junction in Inishkeen village, dated 1729. Latin cross shape, with carved and painted text. IHS monogram, with Greek cross inscribed below, to upper portion of monument face. Silhouette of bird flanked by two flowers in relief within oval recess to base. Inscription reads 'this cr / oss was erected by / captain coll mac / mahon as a memorial of him self and his / family & / desires / prayers / of all the / faithfull / christians / septr the / 2D anno / domini / 1729'.
This attractive simple cross has survived in good condition since 1729. It has a discrete presence in the centre of Inishkeen, helping to form the historic identity of the town. Its early date is notable.
