Freestanding grave monument, erected 1841, by John Sheill to the memory of his wife, Olivia. Comprises brick core with outer faces of slate, with moulded cornice, moulded frame to front with inscribed marble inset. Stone urn to apex of front, with garland and flame-lime detail. Monument has smooth-rendered brick base and is enclosed by cut-stone plinth with cast-iron railings.
This funeral monument is of a most unusual construction. While not particularly well constructed it is notable for its ornate appearance. The moulded slatework is accomplished, and the funerary urn is evocative of death. The contrast between the purple slate, the stone urn and the marble plaque adds textural and colour distinction.
