Appraisal

The original house at Blackwater Vale was a much smaller dwelling, being replaced or incorporated into an enlarged structure of c.1860-1900. The north range was formerly single storey, being raised in brick, and the uneven levels of window openings also illustrates the house's interesting and complex history. The building is enhanced by the use of polychrome brickwork which adds colour and textural contrasts. The retention of varied timber sash windows adds to the architectural heritage value of the building, and the mature setting compliments the site.
