Description

Triple-arch road bridge, built c.1810, crossing Abhainn na Comairce [Cummirk River]. Coursed rubble stone walls, with stone voussoirs, triangular stone cut-waters with remains of render coping, and projecting battered stone piers to both ends of bridge. Rubble stone parapets with coping of large field-stones to southeast and render to northwest, with concrete blockwork repairs. Former Letterbrick National School, now ruinous, adjacent.

Appraisal

This stone bridge is an attractive structure set in a scenic landscape. It is functional and robust and remains in good condition. It is also a substantial structure, having three arches. The construction and detailing represent good craftsmanship in stone.
