Description

Single-arch bridge, built c.1850, carrying road over Leanne River, possibly incorporating fabric from bridge of c.1800. Comprises rubble stone walls and parapets with remains of render, and with flat rendered copings. Field-stone voussoirs forming segmental arch, with gunnelled soffit. Flanked to west by rubble stone walls and to east by metal barrier.

Appraisal

An elegant and imposing bridge that makes a visually striking feature in the rural landscape. The well-built arch is a testament to the skilled craftsmen who constructed it in the mid-nineteenth century. The elegance of the span contrasts with the rubble stone construction.
