Appraisal

A Celtic High Cross-style monument erected (1911) by Cornelia Wadsworth Ritchie Adair (1837-1921) of Glenveagh Castle near or on the spot traditionally given as the birthplace of Saint Colmcille. The spot was previously marked by rock art labelled as "Saint Columbkille's Stone" on the first Ordnance Survey.
