Description

Triple-arch road bridge over the Owenboy River built c. 1800. Round-headed arches comprising cut stone voussoirs and roughcast rendered soffit. Rubble stone piers and triangular cut-waters to both elevations. Rubble stone parapet with roughcast rendered saddle-shaped coping. Tarmacadam paved double carriageway. River partly canalised on its east bank to north of bridge.

Appraisal

A fine example of a small road bridge, well constructed with some good architectural detailing including the triangular cut-waters and cut stone voussoirs. Bridge is shown, but not named, on the Ordnance Survey first edition six-inch map of c. 1837.
