Single-arch limestone road bridge, built c.1855, over disused railway line, now providing private access to a private house. Rubble stone spandrels having cut stone string courses below parapet. Squared rubble stone slightly battered piers and abutments with rock-faced quoins. Elliptical-headed arch with cut stone voussoirs and squared rubble stone barrel. Rubble stone parapets with dressed copings.
An imposing bridge with an elegant elliptical arch that demonstrates the high quality construction of structures built by the Midland & Great Western Railway Company. It has a robust rubble stone construction that is enhanced by fine detailing including the string courses, dressed copings and rock-faced quoins. The bridge makes a valuable historic contribution to the surrounding landscape and attests to the ambitions and energy of the railway company and the technical skill of those employed in its construction. The railway line was closed in 1960 and this bridge, along with other surviving related structures, is a reminder of the scale of the rail network in the past.
