Flax mill complex, built c.1870, comprising detached four-bay two-storey mill building and freestanding circular-plan chimney. Now disused. Square-headed openings with timber lintels to some openings. Sheeted timber door to first storey opening and corrugated metal sheeting to some openings. Rubble stone tapering chimney with putlog holes along shaft. Projecting coping and inclined upright stones to chimney mouth. Set back from the road.
An interesting and picturesque former mill complex which retains its historic fabric and massing. The construction using local rubble limestone and irregular fenestration lends a vernacular appearance to the mill which harmonises with the landscape. The chimney is a distinctive and unusual feature of the complex that further enhances the aesthetic value and technical interest of the site. This complex dates to the mid to late nineteenth-century, a period in which there was a prosperous economic climate in the locality on account of the thriving milling industry. The structures remain as a physical record the industrial and economic history of the county.
