Single-arch sandstone road bridge, built c.1850, spanning Owennayle River. Rock-faced ashlar abutments and soffit, segmental arch with rock-faced voussoirs having dressed arrises, rock-faced ashlar spandrels, and parapets and wing walls. Parapet coping of rock-faced blocks. Parapets of equal length with slight splay outwards to both ends.
A well proportioned bridge with an elegant segmental arch and robust massing, emphasised by the rusticated stone detailing. Spanning the Cavan and Leitrim boundary, the bridge is a key feature of the civil engineering heritage of the locality. Its expertly constructed stonework demonstrates the technical skill employed in infrastructural projects in Ireland at the time.
