Description

Detached four-bay two-storey rendered house, built c. 1840. L- plan, rectangular main block to south, flat-roofed porch to south elevation c. 1940, return wing to north-west. Pitched slate roof, clay ridge tiles, unpainted smooth-rendered corbelled chimneystacks, profiled extruded aluminium gutters on eaves corbel course. Painted smooth-rendered walling to main block, straight V-jointed quoins, chamfered plinth, pebbledash banding to porch, painted roughcast walling to return wing, recessed smooth-rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings, painted stone sills, painted one-over-one single pane timber sash windows. Square-headed entrance door opening set within segmental-headed porch, painted sunbeam timber and glazed door c.1960. Two-storey pitched roof roughcast outbuildings to north forming courtyard with house. Corner-sited, set back from road, garden to south, pebbledashed boundary walls, steel sunbeam gate c. 1960.

Appraisal

This somewhat modified house retains it slate roof, rendered walling and sash windows. The outbuildings add a distinctive coherence to the site.
