Detached single-bay single-storey rubble masonry ice-house, built c. 1830. Squared rubble masonry walls, earth-covered brick barrel-vaulted roof. Square-headed door opening to north elevation, roughly-dressed limestone lintel, limestone drainage stone to threshold. Square-headed window opening to upper section of south elevation, now partially blocked-up. Set into hill overlooking Ballysadare Bay, north elevation facing road, dry-stone retaining wall to roadside.
Ice-houses were once an important feature of country life and this is a reasonably well-preserved example of the type. The carved drainage stone is a particularly interesting feature. The structure sits well in its hillside setting forming an unusual architectural addition to the roadscape.
