Detached single-bay stone icehouse, built c.1800. Barrel vaulted roof. Squared rubble limestone walling. Segmental-headed door openings to north elevation. Brick lining to inner chamber. Very overgrown, set back from woodland path to south of Lissadell House.
Ice houses were once an important feature of domestic life on the Irish country house estates. This fine example displays a high degree of technical sophistication in its masonry and brick construction. Sump visible in the chamber base.It represents an important survival and adds to the architectural integrity of the demesne as a whole. Disused by the 1890
