Detached two-storey signal box, built c. 1880, brickwork base c. 1970. Pitched slate roof, clay ridge tiles, red brick corbelled chimney to north elevaton, cast-iron rainwater goods. Overhanging painted timber eaves on painted timber brackets, projecting painted timber bargeboards. Brickwork walling on painted smooth-rendered plinth to ground floor, painted timber horizontally-boarded cladding to first floor. Segmental-arched window openings to ground floor, painted masonry sills, painted timber framed fixed continuous glazing to first floor south elevation returning to east and west elevations. Gabled porch to first floor east elevation, gabled pitched slate roof, timber-clad walls, painted timber door, reached by metal staircase.
The signal box is a significant historical reminder of railway development in Ireland in the nineteenth century. The building still retains its original form and most of its detail survives.
