Catslide roof to rear extension. Coursed cut sandstone facade with dressed plinth. Central door and windows set in segmental-headed recessed arches with cut stone voussoirs. Random coursed side and rear elevations. Replacement timber sash windows. Timber panelled door with overlight. Timber surround to door comprising pilasters and cornice. Limestone threshold to door. Roughcast-rendered outbuildings. Wrought-iron pedestrian gate and piers to front of house. Entranceway comprised of cut stone gate piers with wrought-iron gates. House located in mature grounds opposite the former Rockingham Estate.
This former head gardener's house was located in the tree nursery of the former Rockingham Demesne. The classically-proportioned façade is embellished by the use of cut sandstone and is further enhanced by the front door and windows set in arches. The octagonal door panels are employed in Ardcarne House. The house reflects the horticultural practices associated with the running of large estates.
