Description

Single-arch bridge, built in 1819, designed by John Nash. Constructed of cut limestone with voussoirs to arch-ring. Limestone balustrade to parapet with rendered coping. Date '1819' roughly carved in central pier. Cut limestone retaining walls to north and south give access to bridge. Bridge has undergone repair work in recent years and missing limestone balusters have been replaced by concrete balusters.

Appraisal

This elegant balustraded bridge, known as Drumman's Bridge, stands in stark contrast to Fairy Bridge located to the south-east. The grandeur of the finely-tooled parapet with balustrade is further enhanced by the large retaining walls leading to it.
