Description

Freestanding limestone ashlar funerary mausoleum or monument, dated 1824, on a square plan on cut-limestone stepped base. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Church of Saint Charles the Martyr (Kilcommon) with spear head-detailed cast-iron railings to perimeter.

Appraisal

A Sir William Chambers (1723-96)-esque mausoleum or monument erected 'to the MEMORY of ELIZABETH [Ruttledge (1768-1824)] Wife of ROBERT RUTTLEDGE of Bloomfield Esqr. and Daughter of FRANCIS KNOX of Rappa Castle Esqr.' contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Church of Saint Charles the Martyr (Kilcommon).
