Freestanding single-bay single-stage tower, extant 1894, on an octagonal plan. Now disused. Roof now missing. Lichen-covered coursed rubble limestone walls. Round-headed door opening with remains of limestone ashlar voussoirs[?]. Set back from road in unkempt grounds.
A polygonal tower, 'either a watch house or a pigeon house – probably the latter' (ITA 1945), not only surviving as an interesting relic of a long-forgotten estate annotated as "Brownstown [of] Browne Esquire" by Taylor and Skinner (1778 pl. 216), but also clearly illustrating the continued development or "improvement" of the estate in the later nineteenth century.
