Appraisal

A gate lodge not only contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Castlemacgarrett estate, but also defining the extent of the estate in the early twentieth century (cf. 31311128) with the architectural value of the composition suggested by such attributes as the compact plan form centred on a crest-emblazoned porch; the construction in a "sparrow pecked" deep grey limestone offset by sheer dressings demonstrating good quality workmanship; and the multi-gabled roofline.
