Detached single-bay (three-bay deep) single-storey pedimented gate lodge, extant 1838. Now disused. Pitched (gable-fronted) slate roof with clay ridge tiles centred on cut-limestone chimney stack having stringcourse below capping, lichen-covered cut-limestone coping to gable forming open bed pediment, and remains of cast-iron rainwater goods on limewashed rendered eaves. Part creeper- or ivy-covered limestone ashlar wall to front (south) elevation; limewashed rendered surface finish (remainder). Set in unkempt grounds.
A miniature temple-like gate lodge surviving as an interesting relic of the Mount Pleasant estate following the demolition of the nearby country house (extant 1814; occupied 1901; vacant 1911; in ruins 1995; cf. 31310006). A prolonged period of neglect notwithstanding, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, thereby upholding the much of character or integrity of a gate lodge making a pleasing, if increasingly forlorn visual statement in a sylvan street scene.
