Detached three-bay single-storey national school, dated 1914, extant 1925, originally on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch. Extended, post-1930, producing present composition. Closed, 1973. In private residential use, 2002. Pitched slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof with clay ridge tiles terminating in rendered chimney stacks having chamfered capping supporting terracotta pots, coping to gable on rendered kneelers, and cast-iron rainwater goods on exposed timber rafters retaining cast-iron downpipes. Rendered walls centred on rusticated cut-limestone date stone ("1914"). Square-headed window openings centred on paired square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows centred on four-over-four timber sash windows with nine-over-six timber sash windows to side elevations. Set back from line of road in landscaped grounds.
A national school representing an integral component of the early twentieth-century built heritage of County Mayo. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, thus upholding the character or integrity of a national school making a pleasing visual statement in a rural setting.
