Seven-arch road bridge over river, extant 1838. Part repointed coursed or snecked rock faced limestone walls between dragged edged tooled limestone ashlar pedimented piers centred on drag edged tooled limestone ashlar rounded triangular cutwaters having domed capping with drag edged tooled cut-limestone stringcourses supporting parapets having drag edged tooled cut-limestone coping centred on dragged cut-limestone blind panels. Series of seven segmental arches with drag edged tooled limestone ashlar voussoirs. Sited spanning River Brusna with grass banks to river.
A bridge representing an integral component of the civil engineering heritage of the outskirts of Ballina with the architectural value of the composition confirmed not only by the construction in a rough cut limestone offset by "sparrow pecked" dressings demonstrating good quality workmanship, but also by the elegant "sweep" of the arches making a pleasing visual statement at a crossing over the River Brusna: meanwhile, a discreet benchmark remains of additional interest for the connections with cartography and the preparation of maps by the Ordnance Survey (established 1824).
