Walled garden, extant 1838, with coursed rubble limestone boundary wall to perimeter having overgrown coping. Now disused. Set in unkempt grounds originally shared with Castlereagh.
A substantial, albeit neglected walled garden surviving as an interesting relic of the much-depleted Castlereagh estate following the demolition of the adjacent country house (extant 1777; destroyed 1798; rebuilt 1799[?]; occupied 1911; sold 1936; demolished 1937), a 'two storey [house]…in the eighteenth century the home of "Diamond Knox" [John Knox (1728-74)]; in the nineteenth century the home of [Lawrence Edward Knox MP (1836-73)], who founded the Irish Times 1859' (Bence-Jones 1978, 74).
