Appraisal

A parochial hall representing an integral component of the mid twentieth-century built heritage of Newport with the architectural value of the composition, one erected on the site of a Wesleyan Methodist Church (1856) purchased (1930) by Reverend Michael McDonald PP (1866-1940), suggested by such attributes as the rectilinear plan form; the symmetrical frontage centred on a Classically-detailed porch; and the cinema-like parapeted roofline.
