Single-span cast-iron footbridge over railway tracks, built c.1885 at Dromod Railway Station. Bridge supported by cast-iron piers with foliate capitals on concrete bases. Cast-iron steps to each side rising to bridge with newel posts with foliate tops. Cast-iron parapets. Sides of bridge closed in with sheet metal.
This cast-iron bridge stands out from the rest of the structures in the railway complex. Although it is relatively simple in design it possesses elaborate decorative elements. Foliate capitals to columns and the newel posts of the stair add artistic interest to the bridge. It represents quality mid-nineteenth century engineering and design and as a result is of technical interest. Maker's mark on newel post reads: "COURTNEY STEPHENS & BAILEY DUBLIN".
