Detached two-storey U-plan stable block, built 1815, having three-bays of vehicular entrances to centre, end bays being slightly advanced and pedimented, and flanked by five bays, with two-bay forward-facing returns. Hipped slate roof. Brackets to pediments. Rubble limestone walls. Oculus windows to upper level of pedimented bays. Segmental-arched vehicular entrances having wide fanlights to double-leaf timber battened doors. Square-headed windows to flanking bays and returns, with timber fittings.
This fine stable block is a fitting accompaniment to Castlegar country house. Its U-plan and classical detailing reflect the quality of the house. The buildings retain most of their historic fabric.
