Description
Gateway, extant 1871, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of red brick Common bond rounded cornered piers having rendered pyramidal capping supporting wrought iron-detailed flat iron double gates. Street fronted at perimeter of People's Park.
Appraisal
A gateway making a pleasing, if largely inconspicuous visual statement in Water Street. NOTE: The gateway is on a line with the gateway to the Waterford Model National Schools (see 22830114) and was most likely installed to facilitate ease of access by the pupils into People's Park.
