Sections of coursed squared sandstone wall, c.1810, originally built as breakwater. Renovated, c.1935, with mass-concrete parapet added. Sited at south-west end of harbour.
A subtle feature of the architectural heritage of Passage East, this wall is of significance as an integral component of the continued development of the harbour that traditionally supported the economy of the locality. Constructed in a traditional manner employing locally-sourced sandstone, the wall attests to high quality stone masonry. The original function of the wall, together with the early use of mass concrete in the construction of the parapet, is of some technical or engineering significance.
