Wall-mounted cast-iron letter box, erected c. 1950, with P&T (Post and Telegraphs) monogram and maker's name cast in relief to the base: 'Jessop Davis Enniscorthy'.
Appraisal
This cast-iron post box forms a modest though attractive addition to its site. The recognisable form and simple detail illustrate the artistic qualities of mass production at the time of its casting. Post boxes of this material are becoming increasingly rare throughout Ireland.
