Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, erected c. 1885, bearing crown and royal insignia of Queen Victoria. Mounted in boundary wall to roadside.
This attractive item of street furniture remains in continuous use and is maintained in good condition. This post box is a fine example of the mass production of cast-iron objects of the late nineteenth century. The raised insignia and royal crown enhance the appearance of this functional object and is a reminder of when Ireland was part of the British Empire.
