Freestanding cut-limestone war memorial, designed 1960, on reclaimed cut-granite stepped base. Street fronted.
A war memorial erected to designs (1960) by Ronald "Ronnie" J. Hickey (d. 2015) of Cratloe, County Clare, representing an important component of the twentieth-century built heritage of Limerick. NOTE The war memorial replaced a "Cross of Sacrifice" erected (1929) by the Limerick Branch of the British Legion and destroyed (1957) by an explosion 'thought to have been caused by a stick of gelignite' (Limerick Leader 17th August 1957).
