Detached three-bay two-storey gate lodge, built c.1870, now derelict. Hipped slate roof with red and yellow brick eaves course and chimneystack. English bond red brick walls having rendered plinth and yellow brick string courses. Blind square-headed recesses to upper floor having yellow brick surrounds. Camber-headed window openings with tooled limestone sills throughout, having red and yellow brick voussoirs, now blocked. Camber- and square-headed door openings having red and yellow brick voussoirs and limestone stepped approaches, now blocked.
The simple form of this former gate lodge, once associated with Woodville House, is greatly enhanced by the use of red and yellow brick in its construction. Prominently sited, this unusual building, even in its derelict condition, makes a positive and interesting contribution to the surrounding landscape.
