Appraisal

This post box displays an insignia from the period of British rule during the reign of George V but also the post-independence insignia of Saorstát Éireann. It serves as an interesting reminder of the alterations which were undertaken to state property by the Free State in its early years, in an effort to assert Ireland's new identity.
