Entrance sweep, built c.1720, comprising snecked dressed limestone walls with square-profile piers having square limestone caps. Central vehicular entrance flanked by pedestrian gates. Eastern pedestrian gate now blocked with dressed limestone blocks. Vehicular and western pedestrian gates having wrought-iron single- and double-leaf gates. Located north-west of house, forming rear entrance.
These gates are an attractive feature of the Garrettstown House and retain much of their original historic character. The wrought-iron gates are of a delicate and artistically interesting design, while the walls display fine stone craftsmanship. The entrance forms part of a significant group of demesne related structures which indicate the scale and wealth of the Garrettstown estate in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
